Deze collectie richt zich op water in het landschap.

Als ik met mijn camera op pad ga, voel ik me onweerstaanbaar aangetrokken tot de serene schoonheid van de ongerepte landschappen van de natuur. Deze galerij weerspiegelt deze passie, met een verzameling foto’s die de rauwe en rustige essentie van verlaten stranden vastleggen, waar het zand zich eindeloos uitstrekt onder uitgestrekte luchten. Ik ben ook gefascineerd door de dynamische energie van klaterende beekjes en watervallen, waar elke druppel lijkt te dansen met licht. De stilte van meren, vaak gehuld in mist of oplichtend onder een gouden zonsondergang, biedt een vredig contrast en nodigt de kijker uit om even stil te staan en op te gaan in deze momenten van stille reflectie. Elk beeld in deze galerij vertelt een verhaal van eenzaamheid en natuurlijke verwondering en nodigt je uit om deze rustige omgevingen door mijn lens te verkennen.

"Whispering Cascade" presents a serene and almost otherworldly depiction of nature's elegance. Centred in the image, the waterfall pours its silky waters from a height framed by abundant greenery. The light filtering through the canopy above lends a soft glow to the water and illuminates the leaves, enhancing the overall ethereal quality of the scene. The slow shutter speed technique here allows the water to appear as a continuous, smooth veil, contrasting beautifully with the crisp texture of the surrounding vegetation. The composition, while slightly central, effectively draws the viewer's eye straight to the waterfall, making it the undeniable focal point of the piece.

The rocks add an earthy element to this captivating and inspiring view. For this photo, I used a tripod, a polariser, and an ND filter to achieve a longer shutter speed and smoother water on a bright day.
"Amber Cascade Serenity", captured during the golden hour, this photograph is a symphony of nature's majesty and tranquillity. The central waterfall, a dynamic burst of white, plummets into the heart of the image with a soft ferocity framed by the rigid grandeur of the cliffs. The subdued light bathes the scene in warm amber tones, lending the trees a fiery aura contrasting with the fall's cool mist. The long exposure creates a silken texture in the water, emphasising movement amidst the stillness of the surrounding forest and rock.
"Majesty of the Valley": This photo showcases the breathtaking Yosemite Valley, captured with a wide lens that embraces its expansive grandeur. The left side of the frame is dominated by El Capitan, a monumental granite monolith that rises starkly against the sky. Its sheer cliff face is a testament to geological time and the forces of nature. To the right, Bridal veil Fall gracefully plummets, its mist catching the light and adding a sense of movement to the stillness of the cliffs. In the distance, the iconic Half Dome can be seen, its distinct shape recognisable even in silhouette. The valley floor is carpeted with a dense forest of pine trees, and their deep greens provide a rich base to the towering cliffs. Overhead, a dramatic sky with clouds tinged by the sun's soft glow because of the late afternoon light offers a dynamic and changing atmosphere to the scene. In this photograph, the choice was not to focus on the waterfall centrally, but it is still an integral part of this expansive view.
"Coastal Reverie" is a breathtaking photograph that captures the magnificence of McWay Falls, located at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, nestled along the picturesque Big Sur coastline in California. The falls cascade gracefully onto a secluded beach, creating a thin mist that merges with the turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean. The cove is encircled by rugged cliffs and adorned with lush greenery, where the trees tenaciously cling to rocky outcrops, defying the salty sea breeze. The expanse of the ocean stretches to the horizon, its surface shimmering under a sky dotted with wispy clouds, hinting at a serene and sunny day. The clear, aquamarine hue of the protected bay contrasts sharply with the deep blue of the open sea, highlighting the peaceful isolation of this hidden gem. Though a bright sunny day may not be the ideal time for a good landscape photo, this picture successfully captures a magical moment in a place where the elements of land, sea, and sky harmoniously converge, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.

The techniques used, such as the lighting (diffused light that reveals the details of the greenery and water), the focus on the waterfall and the reflection, enhance the serene atmosphere.

In September 2021, while exploring Istria, I encountered another waterfall (Zarecki)). What I anticipated to be a grand spectacle of cascading water spanning meters in width turned out to be a modest trickle gently meandering over the edge. The contrast between my expectations and the reality of only small quantities of water delicately making their way down the rock face was striking.

The photograph has a strong sense of depth and direction, partly due to the path that leads the viewer through the landscape to the dramatic climax of the composition: the largest rock formation. The balance between the textures of the rocks and the smooth, almost ethereal water captured by the long exposure gives the photo a dynamic contrast between solidity and movement. This contrast is further enhanced by the natural colour tones of the rocks, ranging from warm, earthy tones to cooler, stony colours, and the subtle blues of the water and sky.
